The Summer School on Medicines (SSM3) is a unique training program on drug development. This third edition will include for the first time, in addition to the speakers, case studies and networking session, a special workshop designed for professionals from the biopharmaceutical industry.

The Industrial Challenges session, which will be held on 21 July 2011 at the Barcelona Science Park (PCB), is different from the rest of the SSM3 program, in terms of both its dynamic and its target audience: it is geared towards not only students registered in the School but also any professionals from the sector that want to sign up for only this session, which will analyze two current issues in the biopharma industry that present significant challenges for professionals: Health Economics and Regenerative Medicine.

These two issues will be dealt with in consecutive sessions, moderated by industry leaders in Catalonia —Jordi Martí (Amgen) and Jordi Julve (Salvat)— and will each have four top-notch speakers from the sector. Confirmed speakers are:  Samanta Cimitan (Lonza), Josep M. Echarri (Inveready), Joan Garcia (XCelia), Alicia Granados (Genzyme), Jordi Julve (Salvat Biotech), Jordi Martí (Amgen), Jo Pisani (PriceWaterhouseCopers) and Pedro Luis Sánchez (Farmaindustria).
