“Sometimes impossible only comes later”

PhD in the Science of Peptides and Genetic Algorithms from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), where she also did a degree in Chemistry and a Master in Organic Chemistry and Peptide Science. In July 2020, she set up Gate2Brain after working as an associate research scientist at IRB Barcelona for over 14 years.

Established in 2020,  Gate2Brain is a spinoff based on novel technology to transport drugs into the brain. The company, which was spun off from Hospital de Sant Joan de Déu (HSJD), the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) and the Institut d’Investigació Biomèdica de Barcelona (IRB Barcelona), has developed a new product to transport drugs into the brain to fight diseases there. 

In this interview, Gate2Brain CEO Meritxell Teixidó explains why she wanted to be an entrepreneur, what she’s learned in her two years leading the company and the startup’s next steps. One more thing, the entrepreneur recently won a #WomenStartupAwards in the Inspiration category.
