A benchmark for everyone

Biocat is active on social media, raising awareness of its own activities and those in the sector, as well as the main news related to the life sciences and healthcare ecosystem. At the end of 2025, Biocat’s digital channels had a joint total of 55,260 followers.

LinkedIn consolidated its place as Biocat’s primary digital outreach channel, with 42,889 followers, 2.21 million impressions and an average engagement rate of 10%. X had 11,531 followers, 206,925 impressions and an engagement rate of 1.82%. In 2025, activity on the X channels in English and Spanish was discontinued. Instagram, for its part, reached 656 followers, with 90,587 impressions and an engagement rate of 8.03%.

The big news in this area this year was the launch of Biocat’s Bluesky channel, which had 184 followers and 108 interactions by the end of 2025, expanding the organization’s digital presence into new spaces for conversation and dissemination.

Regarding media coverage, Biocat issued 11 press releases and got 57 print media mentions, 641 in digital media and 4 on radio and television, for a total of 702 media mentions throughout the year.

This projection activity was also reinforced by organizing 15 of our own events, which brought together more than 6,000 participants, and taking part in 68 external activities.

Source of knowledge

Biocat consolidated its position as a benchmark source for data on the sector and continues to receive numerous requests for information from other organizations, institutions and the media. Updating this data internally on an ongoing basis makes it possible to continue expanding the directory of companies and organizations in the sector on the Catalan Life Sciences portal, which had 2,600 companies and organizations in 2025, with over 150 new additions and more than 200 companies updated.

This task of monitoring and updating data was also key to gathering the information needed to prepare the BioRegion of Catalonia Report and to strengthening Biocat’s role as a source of knowledge on the evolution of the ecosystem.

Consolidation of the Scientific Policy and Internationalization Department allowed Biocat to carry out a prospective study of global trends and strategic review in order to anticipate and address new challenges identified in the Biocat 2024-2027 Strategic Plan. In a context marked by social, economic, geopolitical and environmental crises, Biocat works to align its activities with major European and international challenges: sustainability, digitalization, technological sovereignty and the resilience of the healthcare system.
