Other acceleration, transfer and investment initiatives with Biocat support and/or collaboration
Beyond the programs run directly by Biocat, the organization continued to support strategic initiatives aimed at accelerating the growth of innovative projects, facilitating knowledge transfer and strengthening the connections among entrepreneurship, the market and investment.
2025 marked the end of the BCN Health Booster accelerator, an initiative that supported eleven startups and projects in the healthcare arena from the BioRegion of Catalonia over three years: Aptadel Therapeutics, Ona Therapeutics, Nuage Therapeutics, OneChain Immunotherapeutics and MiMARK Diagnostics, as well as six startups: Artificial Nature, Bioliquid Innovative Genetics, Deepull Diagnostics, GAT Biosciences, GAT Therapeutics and Oncoheroes Biosciences. The program helped participating companies gain access to specialized support, connections with the ecosystem and tools to advance their business and technological maturity.
The EIT Health Start-up Amplifier program also came to an end. This initiative helped support entrepreneurial projects aimed at delivering new solutions in an area of significant medical need, combining expert guidance, connections with key stakeholders and market orientation. The initiative’s main application case was the development and validation of the mjn-SERAS device. It was promoted by a consortium led by mjn-neuro, with the participation of Biocat, IESE Business School, Integralia DKV Foundation, University of Navarra Clinic, Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, Medtronic, Medical Valley, Kork, Synaptia and other international partners.
In the area of market access, Biocat and Alira Health promoted the Market Access Support Program 2025 for the third consecutive year, aimed at supporting startups from the BioRegion of Catalonia in laying out their strategy to enter European markets. In this edition, ten applications were submitted, from which three projects were selected: Foresee, which is developing an implantable microsensor platform for remote monitoring of patients with heart failure; Reveal Genomics, a biomedical spinoff specializing in genomic tests for precision oncology; and tensormedical, a technology company developing tools using artificial intelligence to improve the clinical management of patients with multiple sclerosis.
Finally, the Barcelona Healthcare Investment Forum held its 35th edition, consolidating its role as a benchmark space for connecting innovative health projects with specialized investors. In this edition, the forum also featured the launch of a new investor network, MedAngels, aimed at strengthening connections between capital and innovation and expanding funding opportunities for companies in the BioRegion of Catalonia.
