Other forums, congresses and international delegations
Throughout 2025, Biocat continued to strengthen the international projection of the BioRegion of Catalonia by taking part in specialized forums, welcoming institutional and business delegations, and promoting European projects geared towards cooperation among ecosystems. These activities helped position Catalonia as an international hub for health innovation.
One of the highlights was the Hellenic Biocluster Forum 2025, held in Athens on March 6 and 7, which brought together hundreds of experts, institutional representatives, clusters and companies from across Europe to discuss the future challenges facing the life sciences and healthcare sector. Biocat participated by organizing the InnoMedCatalyst workshop, focused on digital precision medicine in Europe, which analyzed key issues such as funding and investment, access to new markets, startup and SME scalability, regulatory matters, market access, the integration of digital solutions into healthcare workflows and the need to strengthen collaboration among clusters, companies and policymakers.
The internationalization of the ecosystem was also strengthened by welcoming several international delegations interested in getting a firsthand look at the Catalan health innovation model and exploring new avenues for collaboration. In May, Biocat and other organizations in the BioRegion of Catalonia hosted representatives from Luxembourg, Germany, Latin America and Sweden, with meetings focused on digital health, data, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, advanced therapies, personalized medicine and technology transfer.
In the case of Luxembourg, Biocat took part in the Spain–Luxembourg Economic Forum, held at the World Trade Center in Barcelona, with a panel discussion on data-driven health innovation, artificial intelligence and translational research. The session presented the PRECISEU project as an example of interregional collaboration among European ecosystems and discussed topics such as the value of health data, interoperability, the role of investors and barriers to AI adoption. The delegation also visited Barcelona Science Park to learn about initiatives such as PASS and ATMP Catalyst.
The connection with Germany took place as part of the Health Revolution Congress 2025, with a visit from a business delegation from the digital health, medtech and biotech sectors organized by Germany Trade & Invest and CONOSCOPE GmbH. The meeting identified synergies with the Berlin-Brandenburg hub in areas such as advanced therapies, personalized medicine, artificial intelligence applied to health, technology transfer and talent mobility.
Also as part of the Health Revolution Congress, Biocat welcomed a delegation of Latin American health leaders, made up of representatives from ministries of health, hospitals and startups. The meeting allowed Biocat to share its strategy for the ecosystem and its main knowledge, acceleration, projection, investment and internationalization programs, as well as to explore opportunities for technology transfer and collaboration between Catalonia and Latin America.
Finally, Barcelona hosted the Deep Dive Days of the European Clusters4Health project from September 8 to 10. Organized by Biocat, the event aimed to strengthen collaboration with the Ukrainian healthcare ecosystem. Funded by the European Union, Clusters4Health promoted international cooperation among health clusters and innovation ecosystems in Spain, Germany, Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine, and helped strengthen the Ukrainian healthcare system and support its future integration into the European single market.
